I am feeling fat again. And I don’t like it.
A few years ago, I diagnosed myself with the opposite of anorexia. In my mind, I was much skinnier than I was in real life. I never weighed myself, but judged my heftiness by how my clothes were fitting. Because of this, I ended up with some extra pounds. I signed up for Weight Watchers online and managed to get the weight off and kept it off for four years.
Fast forward to now. I gained a few pounds over Christmas. And then the doctor put me on steroids for a sinus infection. In a matter of just a few days, I gained 5….stinking….pounds.
That might not sound like much to some, but I know how this works. Five pounds becomes ten which becomes 15 which becomes 20 and then I will be ready to beat myself to a pulp. I know my fighting weight and I like to keep it there. I also know that now that I am a “little older” those pounds do not come off without a battle.
So, this week I am back on WW.
Have you discovered the www.skinnytaste.com? I bookmarked it earlier this year when I was looking for gluten free recipes for one of our daughters-in-law, but I had never tried any of the recipes until today. Trust me, I will be making more!
I made her chicken piccata for lunch today. It was delicious and only 5 WW points! WINNER!!!!!
Isn’t this the most pathetic food pic ever? Sorry!

Thursday is the day I get to spend with our youngest granddaughter, Amy Flo who is 3. The girls always like to make cookies when they come to Grammies, and today was no exception. So, while I was preparing a low calorie dish, Amy and Pappy made cookies when he came in for lunch. This was a first for Brad, but he loves his little girl, so he jumped right in.
Adding the chips |
Besides a little problem trying to use powdered sugar instead of flour and some eggshell issues, they did great!

Morning!
Thank you for coming to my blog and following. I though I would come do the same with my coffee and visit a minute.
I see you are making memories with your grand daughter in the kitchen. Those were happy times with my grandmom.
I will have to jot over to the website you posted to see what its all about. I am always into cooking healthier and any new recipe I can try too.
Steroids will add some weight but its temporary so once you are off of them the weight will drop off.
GOD bless and keep you all safe.

So nice to hear from you, Tammy! I am new at blogging, but I am beginning to see how fun it can be to make new friends this way. And the things I can learn are limitless. I spent a little time on your blog the other day, and I want to go back to learn more from you about gardening and photography. Your pictures are beautiful!

What a great way to spend a day! I love the pictures! You're so lucky to catch your pounds before they get out of hand. Wish I had been that smart! I have several gluten free sites if you are ever interested in more!

I think grandchildren DO remember what they did with their loving grandparents……………after they get out of their lousy teen years which a couple of mine are going through, and into the saner years of their lives, like their 40's!!!!
Your sweet Amy Flo is at the prefect age, enjoy her every chance you get.
As for the weight issue dear – remember, probably 99% of women see weight gain as they age, so you are definitely not alone. It's a battle, but don't starve yourself, life is too short for that. Eat healthy and not too much, walk as much as you can, then just enjoy each day as it comes knowing you are doing your best. I've always struggled to lose that stubborn last 10 lbs. which I thought would make me a perfect size……..doesn't happen though. Now, in my late 60's I'm just trying to stay healthy and be happy no matter what number the scale gives me.
Have a great weekend Susan…….and one cookie won't hurt!

I think you are right about grandchildren remembering-I certainly have great memories of times spent with both of my grandmas. I treasure those times we spent together and still really miss them after all these years. Poor teenagers-they just can't help it, it seems. I taught junior highers for years and you just never knew who you were going to get from day to day!
I hear you on the weight issue, and I really am not obsessive about it. My problem is I just can't stop with one cookie if you know what I mean!
Hope you have a great Saturday!

Hi Susan,
I'm so glad that you stopped by my blog and left such a nice comment. I'm following you now and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.
I can so relate to the dieting thing. I lost 42 pounds last year and I've manged to keep it all off with the exception of gaining back six pounds. I think it feels more than 12! I am having such a hard time getting back to eating right. I have seriously considered joining weight watchers on line and I am going to look into it.
I love the photo of your precious granddaughter making cookies. How sweet.
The spray paint, called heirloom white, is available at Home Depot. It comes in a gloss and satin. I use the satin. It seems to be the number one choice of bloggers. The color is soft and in between a cream and white.

Thanks, Sissie. So glad to have you as a follower! Such an encouragement to me.
Congrats on losing 42 pounds! That is a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud. I like WW online. It helps me, but I am having trouble recording everything I eat and I know that is key.
Can't wait to get to Home Depot and buy some of that spray paint. thanks so much!
