I have done many different kinds of exercise in my lifetime. I have done everything from aerobics to walking, to running, to biking. I enjoyed Jane Fonda and Calinetics and Jazzercise.
I can hardly believe I appeared in public in a leotard, leg warmers, and sweatband. And I didn’t think I looked half bad. Can anyone say “delusional”? Giggle!
I still do a lot of walking, but I have settled on one form of exercise that I love-yoga. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to put on some comfy clothes and give it a whirl. It has kept me flexible and helps me manage stress. Deep breathing is very calming and I think something we all need to do more.
Anyone who thinks yoga can’t be a workout has never tried power yoga. I don’t think I ever sweat as much as during the yoga classes I take when we visit 30A.
If you live in the boonies like me and have trouble finding convenient yoga classes or just don’t have time to add another outside activity, there are many free classes on youtube.
My favorites are the ones that are around 30 minutes long such as this one by Jan or this one by Sadie.
Earlier in June, I signed up for an online course by Sadie Nardini called 21 Day Yoga Body. I was several days into it when I had a little accident on Starsky, my red scooter, and had to stop.
Even though I have been practicing for years,I was beginning to see some significant results in my core strength. I was so bummed when I realized that it was going to be several days before I was going to be able to do much of anything. I knew the flab would rush back and my gains would be lost. That is just the way it works, isn’t it? If you don’t use it, you lose it.
Guess what? I was right.
So today I started over. I’m not beating myself up, I’m not spending another second complaining over what I lost. I’m just thankful that I am able to begin again.
Day One-check!
Is anyone else “starting over” today?
Hugs,

I have never hurt so badly as I did after trying a few weeks worth of hot room yoga! Schedules make it hard to attend classes, so I'm thinking I'll buy a DVD and try to do it at home. 🙂

I have been doing Yoga now once a week. I LOVE it and it has been the best work out ever. Thanks for sharing with the newbie party. I tell Jane Fonda looked great!

What a great tip…wouldn't have thought of using youtube! I spent a long time in martial arts. While I feel that I gained some long-lasting benefits from the years of training and exercise I did, I often feel like I'm starting all over again. Especially after each baby (just had number 5). Kudos to you on starting over! 🙂
