Simple Saturdays

November 3, 2012 | 10 Comments

I am having my favorite kind of Saturday.

We have no obligations today, so I slept in a bit and read my book, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, while I drank my tea.

Then I made a quick trip to the grocery store, which I should I have done last night when we were in town, but “NO” I can’t seem to get myself organized when it comes to food and cooking,  to get ingredients for Trisha Yearwood’s Tortilla Soup. I learned about it on Sophie’s blog earlier this week and wanted to give it a try.

Here is a link to the recipe.

I spent the rest of the morning fixing food to take to a friend who just had surgery and listening to podcasts on my computer.

I love podcasts and have a few favorites I thought I would share with you. I listen to a lot of them while I sew or mow our great big lawn. Are you a podcast fan, too?

My Top 5 Podcasts…….In no particular order

1. Chick Chat show
2. Book Club Girl
3. Living on the Edge
4. This is Your Life
5. Issues, Etc.
I love my new apron. It was a gift that came all the way from Africa! You could have one, too and help marginalized African women have a better life.
Well, I have a pile of dirty dishes I need to tackle.
BTW- I would give the soup 3 stars. When I make it again, I will add more chicken and veggies to make it a little more hearty. However, it is TASTY!
I hope you are having a relaxing Saturday, and if you have a podcast fav, please share it with the rest of us!
Sidebar: Thank you so much for your encouraging comments about my concerns for our upcoming election. Our church is having a 24 hour prayer vigil for our country that starts today. I will be praying in the morning from 5:00 -5:30 a.m. I would love for you to join me. Please let me know if you do! Double hug to you!

Susan, While you are praying…say one for me.I am about nuts from all the nasty talk on tv. I just mostly want it over with and at this moment I don't care who wins. I may try the soup…but in a small portion, till I see if I like it. Love the new apron. Smiles to you, Susie

I am anxious for this election to be over and all behind us. I hope our country can rectify the situation it is in and move forward into a bright new year.

I love your apron. It is wonderful and even more wonderful that it supports someone that needs support- Blessings- xo Diana

Fiddling around with my phone, I found podcasts and was so happy with the one I landed on…something about European life. I hope to find it again.

That soup sounds delicious … and I've been craving soup! I love your apron, too. I've been wanting an apron and while I could make one myself, I like the idea of helping someone become self-supporting better … and I see just which one I'm going to get! 😉
