Hello, Friends!
Before marching into this new month, I want to pause for a moment to reflect on the last one. Here are my…
Top Ten February Favorites
ONE…..Best TV Show
I know everyone is loving “This is Us,” which we haven’t even started yet. Actually, I’m waiting for it to come on Netflix or Amazon so I don’t have to fast forward through the commercials. Brad and I celebrated the end of February by watching the last episode of The Office. We missed it when it was an actual show on actual TV, but we certainly have enjoyed it.
Laughter is the best medicine and the staff at Dunder Mifflin made us laugh every episode. Who was your favorite character? Mine was Creed. I’m so glad that Jim and Pam didn’t throw it all away when the camera guy obviously had a crush on her and Jim was torn between his new job opportunity and his family. I love when love wins!
TWO…..Best Book
Reading more books is one of my goals for this year, and I’m enjoying it very much! I have a list I found online that I’m trying to read through and there have been some winners and some duds. I used to finish a book if I started it, but no more. If it isn’t appealing to me, back to the library it goes. My favorite for this month has been the first in the new trilogy from Jane Smiley, Such Luck. It is about 3 generations of an Iowa farm family.
I loved this book and learned so much about the beginnings of agriculture as we know it, and feel certain that the author has farmers in her background somewhere. I’m reading the second book now, and it is interesting to me that the most contented person in the next generation is the son who stayed on the farm. The siblings all lead lives in the city that look more glamorous and exciting, but they don’t seem very happy.
Hmmm.
THREE….Best New Yoga Pants
When we were in Florida last time, I hit the jackpot at Soma. They were clearing the racks and had a bunch of stuff 75% off, including workout gear. I’m picky about my yoga britches and had never worn theirs before, but I couldn’t resist purchasing 2 cute pairs at $14.99 each. I love them, even though they aren’t quite as “compressing” as some of my others! They are cute and have a higher waistband that I don’t have to tug back up after doing a series of sun salutations. I’ve worn them multiple times and they wash like a dream. I have this exact pair I found on their website for $24.00, still a great price.
FOUR…..Best New Habit
Bullet-journals are a “thing” all over Pinterest and Instagram, and since I like to try all the “things”, I started one. Some people have journals that are BEAUTIFUL and WORKS of ART, but mine looks more like my messy high school notebooks. Fancied up with colored pens and washi tape, my bullet journal goes with me everywhere. I love making lists of ideas, dreams, quotes, recipes to try, goals, etc. and they are all recorded in my book. It’s fun and is helping keep me on track. It is open beside me now. I’d love to hear all about yours if you have one!
FIVE….Best New Essential Oil Finds
This little gem smells delicious and seems to be helping to control my borderline high cholesterol. Say what? All I know is my bad cholesterol was elevated, and now it isn’t. I haven’t really changed my diet or exercise regimen, but I am using my oils.
I’ll take it!
SIX…..Best New Thing I Saw for the First Time
On the last spring-in-the-dead-of-winter Saturday, Brad and I headed to Fox Ridge State Park. We tromped on the trails through the woods and along the Embarrass River and had so much fun! The river was dark blue- green and the twists and turns and sandbars were beautiful, but my favorite was the work-site of a crew of beavers. We didn’t see them, but the evidence of their hard work was fascinating. I’m amazed that they were able to drag themselves up the steep bank and then they used their teeth to neatly and symmetrically go to town on some pretty big tree trunks. More evidence of God’s creativity and care!
SEVEN….Best Thing I Memorized
I’ve been trying to stretch my brain, to retrain my brain from worry to meditation, and commit God’s word to my heart, and in February this verse has been very important to me. I made up actions to go along with it and taught it to all my Holy Yoga classes.
EIGHT….Best MOPS I Led in Holy Yoga
Brad and I hit the jackpot in the daughter-in-law department and love both Alissa and Lindsay very much. They have such different strengths but are both delightful in their own ways. I’ve never known two girls who are such givers-they are both constantly busy using their gifts to help others, and I treasure my time with them. This month I had the pleasure of leading Lindsay’s MOPS group in Holy Yoga. It was so fun even though once again, I got blubbery about the privilege to tell others about Jesus. Here are just a few of the beauties I was honored to lead….
NINE…..Best New Gadget
This car diffuser was a new little toy I kept to myself because I wanted to surprise people when they got into the car with me. Brad’s reaction didn’t disappoint me. I knew he would get a kick out of it, and he did. Brock’s reaction was the same. Shhhh. Don’t tell my other boys. They will all think I’ve gone off the oily deep end. I don’t care though, the refreshing fragrances of essential oils make me even happier. I ordered mine from Amazon. #setittohappy #setittohappier
TEN…..Best Photograph of a Rainbow
Our granddaughter Faith is a budding photographer and she snapped this shot after she got off the school bus. I love this photographer and her picture! Good job, sweetie!

I loved reading this, Susan. Didn’t say anything in Yoga when you told us the Psalm 28:7 verse but it is on our breakfast table as one I wanted to learn. Especially like the last part ” He helps me and my heart is filled with joy.
What a God we serve!

Thank you, Lisa! You have certainly inspired me with School of Greatness, so I’m glad you enjoyed this. We need to talk about the essential oils. I am learning so much and BELIEVE they are gifts from God for our healing and benefit. Let’s get together soon!

I love your favourites, what a great idea! Lemongrass is on my wish list for oils, but right now I am still using Cassia. And, I too LOVE my car diffuser 😊 we took it on our road trip to Hilton Head. The Cassia oil I used had such a nice homey smell, we loved it and used it at the condo too.
Your yoga pants are very pretty. I bought a nice pair at WlaMrt this week (yes, I did!) and it was first time with a high waist…loving them!!
Thanks for sharing your list, it’s a fun way to get to know you better 😄
Susan says
Hello! So nice to hear from you. We have been to Hilton Head a couple of times and loved it. You are making me want to visit again! You should definitely try Lemongrass. I read about it in my reference book and it is good for many things. Still haven’t smelled Cassia, but I’m going to look it up when we get back on the road this morning. We are visiting Moss Mountain Farm today, and I am SO EXCITED about it! Are you practicing yoga? Have you checked out Holy Yoga TV?
Katherine says
Enjoy your trip! We loved Hilton Head, wish I were going back this year.

I was introduced to Soma when I was in Florida! I love this stuff. Got a new bra and a bunch of underwear! They are so comfortable. Unfortunately their yoga pants weren’t on sale. I did discover Fabletics this year. I love their leggings. New book: Reading The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It is wonderful. I am sure it will be a movie someday. TV Show: I am embarrassed to say, but my sister introduced me to Baby Daddy while we were in Florida. It really is a cute show. Never heard of bullet journals til now. Will check this out as if I don’t already have anything else to do. Your Friday night class was amazing! I loved the oils. I was afraid of them at first. I don’t like strong smells. Gives me a headache. However I found them to smell amazing and loved all of them. When my Tuesday night exercise class ceases sometime here in March, I will show up. Loved the message too! Might have to check the car diffuser out. My Jeep is emitting a strange smell from the heating/air vents. I am really quite embarrassed to have anyone ride with me. They told me they might have to take the dash apart to fix it. Yikes! Dollar signs! And a favorite so for March. Ice cream at Martin’s IGA. Halo Top! And it is low calo and filled with protien and yummy goodness. So creamy.
Emily Carroll says
Oh and shout out to Faith’s picture. So beautiful!
Susan says
Will do!
Susan says
Hello! I love their undies, too, and their cool nights pajamas are great, too.COMFY! I will add your book rec to my list and your TV show, also. I’ve never heard of it! I’m so glad you enjoyed Quiet and STill and would love to have you in my Tuesday night class whenever it is convenient for you. I LOVE my oils and am learning a bunch about them. I think they are going to be very important in our future healthcare. If you are interested, I’d love to share more with you! That ice cream sounds like a winner!

Wow, there are all kinds of comments I can read also!!!!
My favorite thing about Feb is sending my love to family and friends on Valentine’s day. I used to buy, yes an adult, those little 30 packs of Barbie valentines and send to friends and family. No one ever said much, so I thought I should grow up. And about that time we started going to Mexico during the first two weeks of Feb.. I can tell you it was real hard for me not to be home on ❤️ Day. My husband who is not the most romantic did mot appreciate it that he had taken me to Puerta Vallarta and I was whining about wanting to be home. So I learned to keep quiet. Now that I have 5 sweet little grandkiddies getting ❤️S on Valentines day, I really want to reach out to them. I heard it takes about 30 daua for mail to get home from Mexico. So I sendy cards over two weeks early before we lwft tue country. That seemed a little wierd, too. Keep quiet, Bev. Maybe that should be my wors for the year. Quiet and all it’s possibilities. I
Would like to have a blog also. Can you tell!!!!
Susan says
I think I might have received a Valentine or 2 from you.I appreciated each one, but didn’t always remember (or ever) to thank you for them. You should definitely start a blog. I would read it!
Rebekah at The Tex-Mex Mom says
I’m also waiting for This Is Us to come out on Netflix because I’d rather not wait for each episode to come out! :p I don’t know anything about holy yoga but have just started trying out yoga recently. Anyway, it sounds interesting!
Susan says
Hello, Rebekah! I wonder how long it will take to be released on Amazon or Netflix.Hmmmm. There are many, many posts about Holy Yoga on my blog under the Prairie Blessings tab. Let me know if you have any questions. It is wonderful!
Mindy says
I have not heard of using lemongrass for cholesterol control – interesting! Do you use it in a tea? This Is Us is a fantastic, emotional, funny, well made show and we have been really enjoying it so far. My daughter has a car diffuser but I don’t have one yet. I will check out the one you purchased. Fun post.
Susan says
Hello, Mindy! Oh, my gosh! Get a car diffuser. You will love it! Have you tried “Grounding”? It is becoming one of my favorites! I’m putting the lemongrass on my upper arms-I read that in the Essential Oil Reference guide. I can hardly believe it myself that it is working! Have a great day in California!
Marsha says
That rainbow! Such a great picture. She’s on her way to some successful photography!
Susan says
Thank you, Marsha! I will be sure to tell her!
That Wise Lady says
I love lemongrass essential oil, one of my favourite oils! It’s definitely a staple in my collection, but I did not know it could help with cholesterol – bonus! Thanks for some great recommendations 🙂
Susan says
Well Hello, Wise Lady! Isn’t lemongrass yummy? What is your favorite way to use it? What is your favorite oil right now? Please share! I’m glad you liked my recommendations.
