I’m Just Saying…Maybe You Need to Read This Book

January 12, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Did you catch the Friday Night Lights reference? At our house, we love Tammy and Coach Taylor and hope everything works out well in their lives now that the show has been canceled. Booo!!!!

We are finally having a winter day here on the farm. Not only has cold weather and snow arrived, but also some kind of nasty bug. Vegetable soup is simmering on the stove and I ripped out some machine quilting I did yesterday that looked AWFUL.Since I have no energy to do much else, I decided to finish the book we will be discussing next week at our church book club while resting on the couch.

This is one of those times that I wish I had a hard copy of a book and not just a downloaded version for my Nook. This book begs to be loaned and re-loaned and re-loaned again. I may buy another copy just to give it away.

People. This book made me think.

Have you read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers?

You can purchase it on Amazon here.

If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend that you do! On the surface, it is historical fiction about a young girl who was sold to prostitution at a young age and the twists and turns her life takes as she gets out of it. On a deeper level, it is a parable of God’s deep and abiding love for us.
This book gets a thumbs up first of all because it is a compelling story. More personally for me, God used it to point out to me once again to look beneath the surface of the problems and situations people are in to try to get a glimpse of their hearts.
I can show God’s love by trying to understand and love others, not by condemning and pointing fingers.
The self-righteous, judgmental character in this book who couldn’t see his own flaws was no closer to God than the prostitute.
My prayer this day is that I won’t be blind to my own faults as I busily look for them in others.

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here today. I come from a long legacy of farmers and am married to a handsome farmer now. Some of my favorite things are cooking, yoga, essential oils, and most importantly, Jesus!

I live a different yet fulfilling life here on the farm. I hope you will find encouragement within these pages and know that you are loved dearly by the King!
