For Your Christmas Library

November 14, 2012 | 6 Comments

Home sweet home.
We are back from our little trip to Florida. The washer and dryer are humming along happily, and we have jumped back into our normal routines with both feet.
Northwest Florida in November was a great place to be, but so is Central Illinois!

While we were there, we attended the Flutterby Festival at Rosemary Beach. What a beautiful day! There were families everywhere and the kids were having a great time. Music, games, face-painting-a kid’s dream come true.

I love authors and was happy to meet Sandy Meyer from Niceville, Florida. (Isn’t that a perfect hometown for a children’s author?) He was very friendly and eager to tell me all about the many books he has written, including the one I bought for my grandkids.

If you are looking for a great book about the true meaning of Christmas, you will like his book, The Three Miracles.

My favorite line in the book is, ” The innocent pay for the worst in us all. But with faith, there is hope……”

I think the book, which has won awards and is being adapted all over the place into skits for church Christmas programs, will lead to good discussion with our older ones, and it is just a good story with  beautiful illustrations for the youngest.

I intended to save it for a Christmas gift, but I just couldn’t do it! Instead we are going to read it over and over until the big day, and then we will put it up until Thanksgiving next year.

Now, I MUST  keep the other presents I have already purchased in their hiding spots!

What are your favorite books for this time of year? I’d love to hear all about them!

I'll have to tell my daughters about this book. Enjoy being home…I'd be missing Florida's warmth. Smiles, Susie

I was clueless when I saw your beach photos on IG…I thought you'd pulled out old photos rather than being there. haha! Glad you two got away together (I'm jealous! or "jelly" as the teenagers say)
    Cute book 🙂

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't hold back all of the gifts until Christmas! This book looks like it will be an excellent tradition to read each year to your kids 🙂

Thanks for the recommendation for that book. My grands love to read, so I'm always looking for good books, especially ones with eternal messages. It's hard to find good children's book with stories about the real meaning of Christmas, so this one will definitely be on my shopping list for Christmas. 😉

I love NW Florida … we usually visit a little further west. My dad winters in the Pensacola area, and we always go down to visit him there.
