My Pickleball Mindset Hello, Friends! Have you heard the rumor? Spring is on the way! Our Florida friends are already starting to see robins and before we know it, they will make their way to the rest of us. I love seeing my first robin of the season, don't you? My eyes will start roaming the landscape trying to spot them very soon. Do you play a team sport? Did you as a kid? Do you remember it fondly or with a tiny bit of a tummy ache and regret? Either way, I bet sports taught you lots … [Read more...]

Reflections….What Worked for Me in 2017

December 31, 2017 | 6 Comments

Hello, Friends! Wasn't 2017 a good year? Before we rush headlong into 2018, it's good to reflect on God's goodness, don't you think? I could write this entire post about how thankful I am for my sweet husband, kind sons, precious daughters in law, and treasured granddaughters. But, that goes without saying, right? Trust me when I say they are all delightful. (And don't want me to talk about them all over the internet.) No one has a year without some problems and concerns, but I'm dwelling … [Read more...]

Band camp lessons

Hello, Friends! Well, here we are just a few days until we choose our new President. This one has been a doozy, but I've spent most of the election season with my fingers in my ears singing "Lalalala".  I used to be a total news junky with an intense desire to know what was going on at all times. The stress and upset was NOT WORTH IT, and things have continued to go CRAY CRAY with me being mainly happily unaware. However, I do want to be an informed voter, so I have lifted my news ban just … [Read more...]

What to Do When you are Sick of Opinions

December 19, 2014 | 3 Comments

Warning: We interrupt this Advent season to present a post that is totally unrelated to anything festive or spendy. But I need to get this off my chest.I've been worn out lately with my need to have opinions about things. Big things. Little things. The Kardashian mom's hairstyle-even though it's cute, I don't want to look like HER. Mrs. Obama's lunch program. The way Chris was "sexualized" during this season of The Voice. Immigration. I have a question. Why does everyone in the world … [Read more...]

Yes, I’m Listening

June 16, 2013 | 11 Comments

Five Minute Friday........when you set your timer for 5 minutes, and WRITE, without judgment or overthinking. Today's word is "listen."Once a week, I fill up my ipod with my favorite podcasts, grab my super-duper ear protective headgear and crack up my lawnmower. It takes me 2+ hours to mow with our 72 inch deck which goes FAST. If it isn't too hot, this can be one of the most enjoyable parts of my week. I'm outside, I'm accomplishing something that will stay done for a few days, and I'm … [Read more...]
