Dodge Trucks and Paul Harvey

February 4, 2013 | 15 Comments

We are Ford truck people on this farm, but that may change after the Super Bowl!I love, love, love this commercial that celebrates the American Farmer. If you didn't watch it, please take a moment and check it out here.       This reminds me so much of my dad, granddad, and father-in-law. All men who worked the land and loved doing it.The hands tell the story. And now, of course, my husband and sons continue the tradition.Long hard days.Worries about the weather.Very high … [Read more...]

Odds, Ends, and Random Things

January 10, 2013 | 13 Comments

What a beautiful, beautiful day we have been blessed with! The sun is shining brightly, the snow is melting, and the birds are singing. January days like this are a gift, but honestly, they make me a bit nervous.Surely, we won't have another early spring. Remember last year? Our early spring brought  stormy weather. to Southern Illinois. And then a terrible drought.Personally, around this farm, we are ready for NORMAL weather.Pearl is enjoying the morning sun, and I bet she is … [Read more...]

For Your Christmas Library

Home sweet home.We are back from our little trip to Florida. The washer and dryer are humming along happily, and we have jumped back into our normal routines with both feet. Northwest Florida in November was a great place to be, but so is Central Illinois! While we were there, we attended the Flutterby Festival at Rosemary Beach. What a beautiful day! There were families everywhere and the kids were having a great time. Music, games, face-painting-a kid's dream come true.I love authors and … [Read more...]

Simple Saturdays

November 3, 2012 | 10 Comments

I am having my favorite kind of Saturday. We have no obligations today, so I slept in a bit and read my book, Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, while I drank my tea. Then I made a quick trip to the grocery store, which I should I have done last night when we were in town, but "NO" I can't seem to get myself organized when it comes to food and cooking,  to get ingredients for Trisha Yearwood's Tortilla Soup. I learned about it on Sophie's blog earlier this week and wanted to … [Read more...]

Farm (Con) Fessions

October 31, 2012 | 10 Comments

I don't want to give you the wrong impression.I am not one of those farm wives who is in on every decision made in our family business- although I could be if I wanted.I'm not like my aunt or neighbor who works every day in the field during planting and harvest.I'm not even the person who hauls 3 course meals to the men driving the tractors, even though I used to do that before I went back to work full time. Now, I am no longer an employee, and I still don't plan elaborate field meals. My farmer … [Read more...]

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here today. I come from a long legacy of farmers and am married to a handsome farmer now. Some of my favorite things are cooking, yoga, essential oils, and most importantly, Jesus!

I live a different yet fulfilling life here on the farm. I hope you will find encouragement within these pages and know that you are loved dearly by the King!
