Nine Things I Love Right Now

9 Things I Love Right Now

Nine Things I Love Right Now Hello, Friends- It's been a long time since I've done a Nine Things I Love Right Now post, but I love reading them, so today is the day! But, before we get into that..... Whoa. It is a snowy, cold blustery day here in Illinois. I'm looking out my office window at bare tree branches, a snow-covered lawn, a forlorn Pearl ( our vintage airstream), and I'm glad I don't have anywhere I HAVE to go, but thankful I can still get out if I want! Are you snuggled in warm … [Read more...]

Bucketlists, Apple Cake, and P. Allen Smith

April 6, 2017 | 13 Comments

Bucket Lists, Apple Cake and P. Allen Smith Do you have a bucket list? I have had one in my head for some time but have never actually committed it to paper. That is about to change. I spoke this week to the CEO class of our local high school about blogging-what a privilege to speak to these talented kids! They were so polite and engaged and asked great questions. These women were farm wives who raised big gardens alongside their big families and who packed big picnic lunches to take to the … [Read more...]

Grandma Mary’s Honey Wheat Bread

October 17, 2013 | 13 Comments

Is there anything better than homemade bread? I don't think so. If you've never made it for your family, you MUST give it a try. They will love you for it!We have been trying to limit the amount of preservatives that go into our bodies, so I have been trying to do more cooking from scratch.Today, I tried my mother-in-law's recipe for Honey Wheat Bread, and I thought I would share it with you. It turned out great and makes two loaves-one for now and one for later. If you have never made bread … [Read more...]

Weight Watcher Wednesday

February 6, 2013 | 16 Comments

I tried  for a month to jump start my "diet" on my own after growing a food baby (borrowed that term from another blogger-perfect description, don't you think?) during the month from Thanksgiving and Christmas.(I blame this , or it could have been these.)It just wasn't happening, so I bit the bullet, drug out my credit card, revved up the old computer and joined Weight … [Read more...]
