When we were in Florida recently, (remember when our basement flooded?) we hit the jackpot and were there for the 30A Songwriters Festival. We love that little stretch of highway beside the ocean, and being there for the festival was an added bonus. This is a three day festival, but since this was our first time to attend (and we are tightwads), we bought wristbands for Saturday only. We spent the entire day and evening going from small venue to small venue listening to some of the best … [Read more...]

When I was a kid, I enjoyed hearing my grandma share stories of the past. She told me about the first time she rode in a car, went away to college and after one week was so homesick she had to go home. Reality Slap X 50
We got back from our trip to Florida late Monday night with a huge slap of reality.A slap in the form of 6 inches of water in our finished basement. Can you say "aggravated" with me?We left over a week ago in a terrible rainstorm which apparently resulted in a lightning strike which took out our sump pump, cable, internet, big screen TV, and we don't even know what else yet.So....everything in the basement has set in water for over a week. Not good. This was almost as surprising as the time we came … [Read more...]

Many times we hear Christian music playing in the background in stores and see diners praying before meals- the entire place just … [Read more...]
Odds, Ends, and Random Things

January days like this are a gift, but honestly, they make me a bit nervous.Surely, we won't have another early spring. Remember last year? Our early spring brought stormy weather. to Southern Illinois. And then a terrible drought.Personally, around this farm, we are ready for NORMAL weather.Pearl is enjoying the morning sun, and I bet she is … [Read more...]
