Book Cart

March 13, 2013 | 7 Comments

I have been reading books, and talking about books, and trying to get others to read books for as long as I can remember. As a junior high language arts teacher for years, one of my favorite challenges was turning kids who came into my classroom in the fall declaring, "I hate reading," into readers. I thought it was all about finding the right book and giving them permission to ditch a book that they just did not like. That is what grownup readers do, right? We all want to know things. Aren't we … [Read more...]

Spring Starts and Stops

March 12, 2013 | 14 Comments

Hasn't our March weather been "interesting"? It was 63 here on Sunday and yesterday I saw snowflakes several times.Crazy.But, the sun is shining today and the sky is blue.We planted wheat last fall in the field right behind our house and it is starting to wake up and grow and is turning bright green.Blessings.Most of these were our boys'  Bibles when they were kids. Activity is picking up in a big way here on the farm and my boys have SPRING fever. They have begun getting equipment out … [Read more...]

Weight Watcher Wednesday Dreams

March 6, 2013 | 10 Comments

Well, I have been on WW again for a few weeks. I was doing great, but I jumped headfirst off the wagon last weekend when I came face to face with one of my enemies, No Bake Cookies. I ate one and then all my resolve flew out the window and I ate, and ate, and ate.Not pretty, but I am trying to keep it real and you know what they say about confession. It is good for the soul.My name is Susan, and I really think I am a sugar addict. It is humbling. I love to bake for my family, so I have to figure … [Read more...]

Conflicted

March 4, 2013 | 16 Comments

(I want to apologize for the pictures around here that are misbehaving. Hopefully, things will get fixed soon!)Last week, hubs and I headed out on a little one day road trip.Brad has been researching and studying for almost two years as we prepare to spend major bucks on a new grain handling system. This will be a game changer around here, making things move more quickly and smoothly (fingers crossed) on the farm during fall harvest. He wanted to look up close and personal at a couple … [Read more...]

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here today. I come from a long legacy of farmers and am married to a handsome farmer now. Some of my favorite things are cooking, yoga, essential oils, and most importantly, Jesus!

I live a different yet fulfilling life here on the farm. I hope you will find encouragement within these pages and know that you are loved dearly by the King!
