Isn’t she adorable? |
I am sitting in my favorite coffee shop doing what I do best…..procrastinating.
I have some time between appointments and should be working on my Holy Yoga Therapy homework, but instead I want to stop in and say hello to you, sweet blogging friends.
Have any of you done Breaking Free by Beth Moore? A group of friends and I are finishing up week two, and I just have to say, I now love the book of Isaiah. I have read through it a couple of times in the past, but we are really studying it now and I am getting a TON out of it.
The Bible is funny like that.
The Holy Spirit gives us just what we need when we are ready for it, and I’m ready for some FREEDOM!
God has been peeling layers off me the last couple of years, and even though it has been hard, I am enjoying the benefits of feeling lighter and leaving some of that old baggage behind.
Earlier this week, I was in the grocery store and saw a couple of women deep in conversation. As I pushed my cart past them, I couldn’t help but overhear a little of their conversation. They were busy talking about another woman. I, of course, know nothing about what they were discussing and I’m not judging them, but this made me think about the females.
Why do so many of our conversations involve discussing other women, and usually not in a positive way?

Oh love this!!! Great reminder that we need to have a tongue that builds up and not tears down.

Hi Susan,
I wish that little yellow trailer was mine!!
We just love home, wheels or no wheels big or small.
I also read that very scripture daily, well I do have that one memorized. My version calls it the tongue of the learned.
So, Its all in the tongue, I wonder if there are any cute guards to wear over thy mouth??
Blessings, Roxy

A well instructed tongue – oh, how we need it. You are right, it could make all the difference.
(And that trailer is just so cute!)

Susan, Many years ago, I have thought about this very thing. I would even catch myself saying something not so flattering…Then One day,I decided I would try to say something nice about everyone. If the person wasn't the best they could be, was it my say anything…no !! So I decided to just say"oh I love your hair" or "How's your family?" Just to be nice and not nasty. It's been working for me. Even when I am hurt or mad, I will try not to show it. xoxo,Susie

Thanks for this great post. I love Beth Moore!! I don't remember all the studies of hers I've done over the last 20 or more years. Last I started was Daniel, disabling health issues set in and I found without the video, it just wasn't the same. Some day. My new blog, 3christiansthriftyfamily.wordpress.com will have more on faith, as you might guess.

I couldn't agree more! This is something that I think is so important…I was just telling my mom that we are all on this earth together…and all we have are our relationships…but yet that is all we complain about! Seems so silly! Life is too short! Thanks for spreading the good word!

It has been at least 13 years since I did Breaking Free, but it spoke to me where I was. Just finished up Beth's James study which I really wasn't thrilled to be doing, but again, it spoke to me exactly where I was
Isn't God amazing

The vintage trailer is fabulous; it's so cheerful. This post is your best, full of wisdom and insight. It's easy to tell you're a woman after God's own heart; He's so pleased.

I agree…our tongues wield a lot of power…for good or not. I was thinking today how I need to be more careful what I say to my husband. Not that I am in any habit of saying bad things or running him down….but do I use the power of the tongue to build him up?
Oh I love that little trailer. Wouldn't it be fun to go camping girlfriend style?

Kind of a different take on 'tongues of fire.'
Maybe we should see our tongues as being on fire with the Spirit, and not with destructive fire.
Thank you for a good thought today.
Peace in Christ,

Oh, yes….we all need to watch our tongues…
I TRY to revert back to my childhood teachings that "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." π Sorry to say that there's been times that I didn't do it….I ask for forgiveness about that all the time.:)
