January R.E.P.O.R.T
Hello, lovely friends-
Ok. Now this will be even more fun if YOU hit reply and share your R.E.P.O.R.T. with me. So as you read my R.E.P.O.R.T., think about yours.
R……Reading
Do you set a reading goal for the year? Mine is consistently 52 books, which I consistently do not hit. But I’m not changing it because it really does help me to pause occasionally and ask myself, “Would this be a good time to read instead of scroll?”
My first book of 2024 is the third in a series by Ken Follett, The Armor or Light.
Here is the link if you are interested: The Armor of Light
Oh, my word. When I went to find the link for you, I discovered that I totally missed the 4th book which is a prequel to the entire series. Well, I certainly want to read that one, too.
What I love most about this historical fiction series is the way it shows that the HIGHER STORY is always GOD’s story and that story is the bigger one.
Is Ken Follett a believer? I have no clue, but the whole series revolves around the Cathedral in Kingsbridge, England, and I learned a bunch about church history through the books.
E…. Eating
I can’t report much in the eating department this month. Poor Brad. I didn’t feel good for about 2 weeks and I didn’t do much cooking or try any good new recipes.
One thing I am glad that I discovered was Clif bars. The brownie one is the only one I have tried, but they have lots of protein and taste good and make a great grab and go meal when you need something quick as you head out the door.
What is your favorite low sugar protein bar? Do you have a recipe for one? Tell me everything!
P….Playing
While I recuperated and rested, I finished a puzzle and now I’m playing with my watercolors while Brad and I watch old episodes of Survivor.
In no way am I an artist, but I enjoy trying to recreate sketches from Susan Branch’s book and then using my watercolors to liven them up a bit.
O….Obsessing
I’m obsessed with all things British. Audible books with British narrators, all the Jane Austin movies on Netflix and Prime. This is my most recent one and I just loved it.
Why didn’t I just buy it instead of renting it? Still might!
R...Recommending
Whoops! In a way I guess all of these are recommendations, but let’s carry on……
As my Instagram feed is prone to do, ads for “kur” by Londontown nail polish started showing up in my feed. I love have pretty nails like all of you, but it just isn’t convenient for me.
So I have ordered a bottle and tried it today. I like the way it looks-like my natural nails, only elevated-so we will see how it wears.
Are you a nail salon or do-it-yourself kind of girl?
Here is what I ordered:
T…Treating
I’ve been treating myself with episodes of Survivor. Competition reality TV appeals to me somehow-The Voice and Married at First Sight have been favs for awhile now.
We hadn’t watched Survivor for years until this fall when Brad’s little sis, Rosemary, told us they watch it. I found old episodes on Prime and gave it a try and LOVE it.
People are fascinating and I’m learning a lot about human nature by watching this. Actually, it seems a little like Life Coach job research.
During the spring, summer and fall, we might not turn the TV on for days, but in the winter we enjoy a cozy evening in our basement family room with the space heater and mindless television.
And often, popcorn.
In closing:
Lots of us are reading through the Bible this year following one plan or another. #lifechanging
Those of us in The Bible Recap are reading Job, and a big topic is wisdom. I love the quote from Spurgeon because it says a LOT-knowledge does not necessarily mean wisdom.
Please, Father, may we not just gain knowledge about you, may we gain wisdom FROM you.
Would you please share your R.E.P.O.R.T.? Hit reply and tell me everything or go to my Facebook post and add yours there!
Cheering you on, friends!

All things British – Call the Midwife series on Netflix! Based on a true story and they spinned it off as a series. There is a book Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth and the series is based on her story. It takes place in 1950’s and ‘60s East End London and there is a lot of historical tidbits in there.
My goal is 50 books. Never make it to 50. Last year’s total was 37.

Emily-
Go you!!!! I started Call the Midwife, but didn’t finish it. I think it will be the series I watch while I do my next puzzle which is all about London. That sounds so fun!!!
