I am mad at my blog.
image from google |
I want her to be all cute, and clever, and inspiring. You know, a place you want to come back to visit again.
I want her to have her own quirky little personality and flavor.
But right now, she looks kind of plain and a little bit boring and like thousands of other blogs out there in blog land.
GRRR!
She used to be all fancy with some free stuff from shabby blogs, but yesterday for the second time, I got a message saying that hackers had attacked shabby and I shouldn’t go to my blog because of it.
That news began a couple of hours of sweating and a bit of a stomach ache on my part.
I decided to say good bye to Shabby and try the Cutest Blog on the Block.
But, when I followed the directions, I ended up with a very colorful background all over EVERYTHING! It was very hard to read and not like it was supposed to be at all.
I tried, and I tried, and I tried to fix it.
The gazebo at our friend’s pond. Pretty and Relaxing! |
I checked her on Explorer and Firefox. She looks kind of wonky on Explorer, and there are videos popping up in strange places on Firefox.
I hope Al Gore and his buddies who invented the Internet get it all straightened out soon.
FRUSTRATING.
I wondered why I was messing with a blog anyway.
No one would miss me if I was gone.
Blogging is a big time sucker.
Blah, Blah, Blah.
Our first bloom from our new clematis. Love the textures. |
Then the sun came out, and I remembered that blogging is fun. I have met some new “friends”. I like learning how to do new things.
So, for now I have a homely little blog again, and I am open to suggestions from all you smart girls out there. How should I go about spiffy-ing things up around here?
Hugs,

Don't you DARE quit! As far as how to "do things" or "fix things" on your blog you might as well ask me to perform brain surgery. What? You WANT me to attempt brain surgery? I'll try it on MyHero first!
Anyway, I think you just keep plugging along and it you will find your niche…like I did…and it took me a long while to do that. I'm STILL not sure what my niche is but it sure isn't for my photography skills!;>)
Anyway, Hang in there and keep posting- xo Diana

You are so funny! I know how frustrating some of this techy stuff can be. I use cutest blog one the block and it works well….i do know they suggested for my template to use a certain template from blogger to use their template. check that and see if it helps.
Kim @ Plumberry Pie says
did that even make any sense;)?

Hi Susan! I found you from a comment you posted on my blog – thank you! And good luck with fixing your blog how you want it! I just spent the last hour doing the same thing. ugh. Looking forward to seeing more from you…

Aw, I love having you in the blogosphere! Definitely don't quit.
I bought the basic Thesis framework, which is actually pretty easy to customize. Whatever you do, good luck!
Sometimes my blog needs a spankin too!

I sure hope you are able to sort things out soon. I once had my blog disappear completely. That was exciting!

Hi Susan!
First your blog *doesn't* need a spankin', it just needs a little lovin' from you. Before I started my blog I read and read and read about blogging. One thing that I learned is that being pretty isn't what draws people…it's content. And one of the biggest out there is "Copyblogger." And if you notice…his blog is pretty plain Jane…and he could have the priciest blog decorator there is. People don't visit his site in droves to see the pretty….but to read what he says. The same with Michael Hyatt. Sure these are guys…but seriously…some of the blogs I follow faithfully may decorate or redecorate their blogs…but their decor *does not* make me come back. It's their personality and their content. So, yes…content is queen. (We're ladies…so I'm not going to call it king – teehee.) I like what you've done decor wise with cute blogs…it really does fit a vintage farm theme. However….I do have a few other thoughts…but I have to look for them. I'll be back later with some blogger decor links. If I delay…remind me…I've a bit on my plate these next few weeks.
Chin up girlie. Keep blogging and fun!! {hugs}

Ahhh girl…I am glad the sun came out!:) There are some great blog designers that are very very reasonable. I bet my girl can help you out on the cheap. Her button is under my sponsors on the right hand side. Start with a cute header for about 25.00…I like the layout of your blog and the white background you can never go wrong.

Hahaha, I think your blog is in fine shape. Take it easy on her. ๐

Haha, I could have written the same about mine! It's difficult for me not to compare my blog with others. Just keep on praisin' cause it's you that is wonderfully made (even though we feel our blogs aren't!) Have a great week!

Don't you dare quit! But I totally understand wanting your blog to look as you desire. I researched for a year before I figured out what to do on mine…truly a YEAR! I like the sparse look today, and as Diane above said, "Content is queen." Since I am using a template for WordPress that I customized from Prophoto I don't know that I can offer much help. Sorry.

I like the new look of your blog so far. I would love to give mine a makeover but haven't really had the time to devote to it lately. Hopefully, it won't give you too much more trouble.

I like your blog design. It is clean and calming. Sometimes when I go to a blog it is easy to get overwhelmed!
Yours always makes me smile!

So frustrating! I have been hit up with the learning curve myself. But I'm so glad to hear you are not giving up. My blog is super plain too and I've decided to just try one small thing at a time. It may take me forever to get the blog have in mind but I'll get there eventually…

I can make you some fine banners if you like!
I kinda like the white background…it looks fresh and clean.
Darn that Al Gore ๐
