I would like to slap Sandy, wouldn’t you?
I feel so sorry for all the people on the east coast whose lives are being disrupted by the wind, the rain, the wind, the water, and the wind. And then the snow-3 feet?
I can’t even imagine it.
Who would have thought this hurricane would have an impact on my life, here on the Illinois prairie?
Well, she has.
One of the things on my bucket list is to become a certified yoga teacher. I love to practice yoga because it makes me feel better inside and out. As a matter of fact, I think the world would be a better place if everyone took the time to take a comfortable seat on the floor, closed their eyes, and took several deep breaths.
I spent months searching for just the right certification program, but felt uncomfortable with each one because of the focus on Eastern religions. I just didn’t want to fill my brain with untruths. So, I kept looking.
One day I stumbled upon the Holy Yoga program, and I was hooked from the start. Holy Yoga combines world class yoga with a focus on Christ. Win-Win!
I signed up and have spent the last nine weeks immersed in yoga. I have enjoyed my hours of practice, reading, Bible study, our weekly webinar, and conversations with my accountability partner. I was totally psyched (and a little bit nervous if I’m going to be truthful) for our week-long retreat scheduled for this week in Virginia.
Then she had to show up and ruin everything.
How ironic that something that has been such a great way for me to relieve stress has become, in the last couple of days, such a HUGE stress producer.
I had to take a few breaths myself and calm down and think about the bigger picture.
Once again, maybe I need to learn that I need to turn to my Savior when I have a need.
Not a cookie.
Not a new pair of shoes.
Not a downward dog.
So, here I am safe and snug in our little farmhouse learning the lessons needed to transform my heart. And that is a good place to be.

Safe at home is a great place to be. My mom had a similar experience with Healing Touch and was so happy to find a group based on Jesus Christ and not other religions. I hope you will have a chance to pursue your dream when the weather clears.

Susan, What a beautiful post. I have seriously been thinking about trying Yoga. I have always been slightly conflicted about it but I think there are so many benefits to it.
We are in WI and it looks like we are going to reap some of the wrath of Sandy, too.
Have a blessed day- Diana

It's amazing what God can use to get us to focus on Him … even a hurricane. 😉
I've been interested in yoga for some time, but like you, I wasn't comfortable with the focus. I'm glad to hear that there's a Christ-centered yoga program. I'll have to see if I can find classes in this area.

I really enjoy the little yoga I know, but I never heard of Holy Yoga – that sounds wonderful! Sorry your plans had to change, but thankful you are safe.

Well, aren't you something to do that! I have been a few times and loved it but it is at a university and parking is impossible, so I stopped. But to teach it!! I couldn't.
Did you see the incredible huge rainbow over NYC??? How loudly God speaks and so many still choose to not hear. Unreal.
