The Christmas decorations are finally coming out of hiding at this farmhouse! We are hosting a couple of parties during the month, and the first one is Saturday night. My goal is to finish the decorating today, so I can move on to the other tasks and be totally ready by Friday night.
That will free me up on Saturday to cook…
…and probably remop the kitchen floor
….and clean the bathrooms again
….and be shocked at the dirt I find when I start looking around with the eyes of a guest!
Thank goodness, everyone who is coming wouldn’t care if I did any of those things. They aren’t looking for dirty windows, or smudgy stainless steel, or dusty ceiling fans.
Aren’t real friends great?
I like to seasonally decorate, not so much holiday decorate. Know what I mean? The older I get the quicker a month goes by. I enjoy messing with my pretties and doodads, but I don’t want to do it every day.
Can I get an “Amen,” girls?
The mantel, front and back door looks need to work at least through the month of February or so. The challenge is to be tasteful about the whole thing. We don’t want to be those people who leave out the Christmas decorations until Easter.
But then, who made me the judge? I like the tree without any ornaments on it at all!
Can’t wait to drive through blog-land and look at all your beautiful homes. Watch for me. I’ll be the one in the vintage blue station wagon!

I am giggling because before people come to my home I, too, walk through looking at all of the dirt with an eye of a guest. π You are so right, true friends don't care and don't even look. If they do happen to see something, they are just happy it's not just their house that has some dirt here and there.
I love, love, love your trees. They are so beautiful and elegant.
Enjoy your parties…can't wait to read about them.xoxo

Come to think of it, when I go to someone's house I never think of checking their housecleaning skills! I don't know why we tend to fret so over having a spotless house when friends are coming over. Thanks for visiting my blog and especially for leaving your kind comment about the Middleburg Hunt Review. The cute little town looks like something from a story book too!

Why, oh WHY do I never seem to see the ceiling fans until guests are coming? Oh, well – you're right – so glad real friends don't care about those details!
Loved looking through your blog! Wonderful!

We had our big party on Sunday. Isn't it good to have something earlier in the month so that everything gets done? I love having a really clean house for Christmas…windows and all.
I love. love. love all your bottle brush trees!!
Hope to see you in your blue wagon!

You're very right….guests don't notice all the little things around the house that we do, at least not if they're family or real friends!! Loving your little trees in the photos π
