Do You Do?

January 1, 2013 | 18 Comments

Are you an “A”?

A type “A”, I mean.

My husband is a list maker and a checker-offer. The man gets things DONE.

I bet you are, too– like so many bloggers seem to be. You write posts every day, you tweet, you facebook, you instagram, you create.

You inspire me, and I thank you!

But, I’m jealous.

Ok. I said it.

Instead of being an “A”, I’m a little further down the alphabet.

After pondering this quite a bit the last few weeks, I have decided to embrace with joy my place in the letters. We can’t all be an “a”.

All the others letters are needed, too, and words couldn’t be made without us.

Therefore……no more thinking about how much others are accomplishing with their day, but more focusing on my own strengths.

Yesterday, I reflected on my journey as a follower, and how I chose it.

Since I think it was beneficial to have a focus word, I’m doing it again.

My word for 2013 is DO. Do more of the things I dream of, learn more the topics I’m interested in.

Stop lamenting the talents I don’t have and focus on those I do possess.

This is going to be a learning year for me, and I’m looking forward to it!

What about you? What is your word for this year? I would LOVE to read all about it.

Happy, Happy New Year! I think you are GREAT.

Even we Type A folk need to take your advice to stop lamenting the talents that we don't have and focus on those we do. 😉

Wishing you and yours a blessed 2013.

Susan-That is a great post. I am a list-maker and a doer, too but I sometimes envy my friends more laid back- "maybe it'll get done and maybe it won't" attitude. See, there are two sides to every coin. Blessings to you as you DO the New Year in! xo Diana

I am a list maker, but then I forget where I put my list. Sometimes I think I do too much. This year I want to focus on what God would have me to do. You can read about my One Word in my latest post! Happy New Year!

I'm NOT an A and have to say that they make me nervous. I want to tell them to chill out. I am wayyy laid back.
    So, high-five, Susan!!!
It also means I have no word for the year. My only plan is to hopefully please my savior minute by minute and I am looking at a second Alaska trip…you are invited!!!

Can I be half and half…sometimes I get many things done and other times…just call me Pa Kettle. I'll get around to that one day, kind of thinking. My husband sees chores as lots of small jobs and I see them as, the end of the world, all consumming. LOL. xoxo,Susie

Your blog is so wonderful and I feel blessed everytime I read your posts. 🙂

Like you, I am not an "A". I have tried to be, but it's just not me. God made us to be further down the alphabet. ;).

Happy New Year my blogging friend!

I'm an AB like my oddball blood type lol..
I DO and then I have periods when I do nothing.
in the end we are all already doing exactly what we need to and once we accept that, its all good. just maybe someone is watching all the things you dont do and saying, I wish I was more like that and that I wasnt all wrapped up in 2 gazillion forms of internet media so I could just sit and marvel at the beauty of the clouds and not give a thought to what I need to DO next:)
    blessings to you in 2013

I don't know if I'm a type A personality, but I do know that I'm goal oriented. I'm all about the result rather than the journey.

I used to be an A, but no more. As I've become older I'm taking more time to appreciate the moment. Maybe my letter is S for keeping it sweet and simple.

What a great post! I'm with you! Definitely not even close to an A.
My word for 2013 is "acceptance." I expect so much from myself and others around me…I need to accept w/out judgement.

    Happy New Year!

Hi Susan, I lost you for a while at the end of 2013. My silly spam button went wild and started putting everything there. So glad I am back in the fold of your Christian conversations. DO, good word. Mine is JOY, as a God follower, I believe I need to focus on the JOY of the Lord. Have missed you, you are a true inspiration!!! Love in Christ, Emilou

Hah! Not an "A" at all! Perhaps a "C" (casual) or "U" (underacheiver) lol. Do is a great word, I keep trying to do a little more each day.

I'm not type A – I think I'm type Z!! The farthest thing from it! Love your word "DO"! I have to use that this year and get myself organized! Oh no, does that mean I need a list!
