It is POURING again this afternoon and I am sick of it.
I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but this is getting very old.
Our beautiful wheat is waiting to be harvested, we have beans that we can’t plant, some of our corn looks terrible because the roots are tired of swimming in mud, and our nerves are frayed.
Last year, we had a total crop failure because of the drought and hot weather. I shared a little about it here and here.
This year, we can’t even get all the seed in the ground because we get one torrential downpour after another. We had over 5 inches of rain last week alone, and I don’t even know how much we have already had today. The storms hit us and then back up and hit us again.
It is unbelievable.
I know God has our back and we aren’t going to starve, but it is taking a toll on our spirits. I know farmers aren’t the only ones whose livelihoods depend on the cooperation of Mother Nature. My heart goes out to all of them.
I think the rest of my afternoon may include popcorn and my book and maybe noise canceling headphones to block the sounds of thunder and rain.
Forgive me for complaining, friends, but sometimes farming STINKS. Prayers for patience would be appreciated.
Hope your part of the world is nice and sunny!

Same weather here, Susan, and even in Michigan. I will say a prayer for you and all of the farmers that work so hard to feed us. Hang in there.

How frustrating going from praying for rain one summer to praying for less rain the next summer! Hopefully things will calm down in July and you guys can get those seeds in the ground 🙂 Hang in there 🙂 Um, are those your hydrangeas?? I am so jealous – the are stunning!! I cant get mine to bloom like that!

Hi Susan, absolutely I will be praying for you. I like the idea of noise-canceling headphones. Genius!!
Please let me know how it goes with the fields…when you are ready to look at them again.
Peace in Christ,

Hi Susan, Well I can officially say we are in a drought! High winds and fierce dirt storms. Did I say NO RAIN Notta DROP…!!
My sister lives in Michigan and she has had a ton of rain and mosquitoes to boot…
Crazy weather. I know the farmers around these parts are in a terrible way.
Pray and wait dear sister.

I so understand because I was raised on a farm…and there is no way to outwit Mother Nature. I am praying that the rain stops and you can get on with the farming-that it is not too late to make good crops- xo Diana

Ohhh! Sorry!
Not the same story over here at all.
Most all have cut their wheat.
It has only just today, rained and I'm enjoying it, so fresh.
Not much of a party day, though!
Hope your 4th is fun!

it's been raining buckets here; saw the sun once today. they closed the ocean front road in North Myrtle Beach because the road was flooded so this rainy weather is all over the place.

Hi Susan 🙂 I wish we could take your rain – it's been SO dry here in Colorado. On my trip out to Canada we saw a lot of fields that were flooded and I felt so bad for the farmers and their crops. I hope you get some sunshine soon.
Love and hugs!

So sorry Susan – we are used to a lot of rain where I live so I know how frustrating it can be. Praying for sunshine ahead for you as well as peace in the mean time.
